Our Expertise

AAP is a network/consortium of expertise with targeted access to global algal expertise. The AAP professionals are exceptional in all areas of algal aquaculture and phycology and have more than 100 years of combined experience in practical, applied, and theoretical aspects of the field. AAP has developed the Algal Aquaculture Readiness Scale (AARS), a tool to track program progress composed of a nine level matrix from concept to commercialization. The AARS focuses our efforts, increases efficiencies and develops a roadmap to success, which stresses common-sense solutions to the plethora of algal aquaculture challenges. AAP’s comprehensive knowledge and applied experience in algal aquaculture are unique to our ever-expanding world of algal agronomy and continue to innovate and enhance algal systems to create added value for our clients.

Our Efforts

AAP’s development of the AARS efforts are segmented into four areas of endeavors:

Assessment Services

Assessment Services include the Basic Principles, Concept Formulation, which includes: full feasibility study, aquaculture investment assessment, due diligence review, legal, permitting, and regulatory review. The efforts will conclude in the development of an action plan, project plan and initial system design.

Technical and Management Services

Technical and Management Services include: Proof of Concept, Preliminary Technical Evaluation, Process Validation, Full-Scale System Evaluation, Product Certification, Full Commercialization, and Production Capacity Enhancement. Phases include the implementation of the action plan developed by the Assessment Services branch. The action plan will include the final design and construction of a new facility or enhancement of existing facility, authorship of SOP manuals, staff hiring and training, and/or total project management.

Client Services

Client Services serves AAP as its quality control/quality assurance branch, maintaining close ties with contracted clients. The client must be satisfied, goals obtained and quality follow-up over the long term.
